Wall of Sound: The world’s most powerful iPod speaker

Posted in GADGETS, Speakers by FreshLot Team | Tags: , ,

Brothers has recently introduced us to the Wall of Sound(WOS) which is a HUGE speaker that is not only big, but also handmade and very high quality.  However, by looking at it the most obvious attribute is surely the shear the size of this thing.  Measuring in at over 3 feet high and over 4 feet wide it definitely dwarfs the iPod (notice the docked iPod on the bottom right of the photo).  The WOS is made to be big, loud, and produce crystal clear sound.  The first round of this baby has already been called for, but you can still get your pre-orders in for the second-gen.

Apple iPad

Posted in GADGETS, Mobile by FreshLot Team | Tags: , , ,

Apple’s new in-between mobile device is finally official: The iPad.  As you may already know the iPad is supposed to be the first device to truly fill the gap between mobile devices like the iPhone and the standard laptop computer.  As claimed by Apple, netbooks have never really filled this gap, and that is one of the reasons they claim the iPad is really the new deal.  I have to say, it does look really fresh, and I will most likely be picking up the wi-fi version for myself when they hit the markets in April of this year.  The fact that it is so lightweight (1.5 lbs) and is only 0.5  inches in depth definitely re-enforces Apple’s claim to be filling the gap.  I can see myself using it in the kitchen and living room and maybe even checking out some games on it.  You will be able to load any iPhone apps and there will also be new apps and games developed just for the iPad.  My first impression was “hey, this thing is just a big iPhone” (haha), but it will definitely serve a much different purpose for the user.  Although, the iPad will be compatible with many, iPhone/iPod accessories.

The iPad will be released in 6 different flavors:  Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi + 3G; each available with 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB of flash storage.

A few other noteworthy specs:

  • 1GHz Apple A4 processor
  • 9.7-inch LED Multi-touch display
  • 1024×768 resolution
  • Fingerprint resistant coating
  • 10 hour use battery life
  • 3-month stand-by power
  • 9.56″ x 7.47″ x 0.5″
  • 1.5 lbs(Wif-Fi), 1.6 lbs (Wi-Fi + 3G)

Capsule-Rebel-M-Split

The CapsuleRebel M is the latest release in iPhone protection from SwitchEasy.  As with their previous model, the CapsuleRebel, the construction is based on a hybrid design that offers both hard and soft protection in one package.  Specifically, the hard spine gives structural support and shock protection at each corner while the soft polymer snugly wraps around the phone to protect its delicate surface.  One of the main improvements this model has over its predecessor is the ergonomic spine structure which aids in grip and also provides an awesome menacing look.  The kit comes with everything you need to protect your iPhone 3G/3GS which includes:Capsule-Rebel-M-Multi

  • Two anti-static Screen Guards
  • One Microfiber Wipe
  • Two Universal Dock Adapters
  • One Video Dock Stand
  • Two Power Jack Connector Protectors

Nexus One by Google

Nexus-One

Although the Droid was recently released, Google has a new phone that they can call all their own (in production with HTC) – the Nexus One.  Google is a little aggressive, no?  I guess you can’t blame them since they do have the skills to pay the bills, and the phone does look pretty darn cool.  I’m sure you will read many comparisons to the iPhone, but I’ve got to go ahead and talk about it some! My current favorites are its camera flash (who would’ve thought!?), the charger connector which is the same as bluetooth headsets (convenience wins), great organization structure, apparent ease of use, and ultra-slick looks.  The talk is that the Nexus One is fast to react to inputs, but reportedly the battery life isn’t much better than the iPhone (Although the battery is swappable unlike the iPhone).  You can get a much better look at the Nexus One by using Google’s flash presentation that allows you to interact with some of the phone’s features.  As cool as this is, I can’t give up my iPhone just yet.
